Committee Meeting Minutes February 16, 2005

Order of Business
Treasurer's report: $2,526.51 in the Fourth
Corner Slow Food bank account. Resolved to
have executive committee meetings monthly,
open to all interested members. Members
planning to attend are requested to RSVP to
Sheryl at 319-9511 or sad46@lycos.com.
The next meeting is March 29. Time and
place to be announced. Executive committee
meeting minutes will be posted on the website.
Website: Resolved to contact Slow Food USA
in New York to update our membership list,
confirm our contact information, and order box
of Slow Food flyers. Resolved that our members
be
reminded of the importance of keeping their
national membership in Slow Food current. Slow
Food USA provides us with our mission
statement and non-profit status (501-c-3).
Resolved that
info@fourthcornerslowfood.com will be the
email address for all official business and
announcements. Max will respond to daily
emails, Mataio will act as webmaster and do
postings, and
Sheryl will make all event announcements.
All emails regarding postings should be
addressed to WEBMASTER-SLOW FOOD and sent to
Mataio at catering@ciaothyme.com. February 25,
2005, meeting at Coop Healthy Connections
Building, 6 P.M.: Sheryl will send postcard
invitations requesting an RSVP as well as
email reminders. We will have a potluck (bring
your own plate, etc.) Max will check
availability of water pitchers. We will
provide plastic cups. Jessica will ask Sarah
Wolfe if she can provide soup, reimbursing
Ciao Thyme for food costs.
Agenda: General introductions of members
and what brought them to Slow Food. Sheryl
will invite Rio Thomas of Small Potatoes
Gleaning Project to discuss their connection
to Slow Food. She will invite Peter Willing to
report on the County Council meeting relating
to use
of farm land and the regulation of sprawl
in Whatcom County. The executive committee
will present its brainstorming ideas for
member events and fundraising events to
include nonmembers.
Fundraising events will be held quarterly:
autumn - Harvest Dinner (Jessica and Mataio
Gillis, chairpersons); winter - European wine
and cheese tasting, venue to be decided (Mary
Ellen
Carter, chairperson); summer - ice cream
social featuring Mallard's ice cream, venue to
be decided (Sheryl Davis, chairperson); spring
- visit to Bow/Edison cheese maker and goat
farm with a
tasting to follow coordinated by Slough
Food (Max Morange, chairperson). Other
possibilities include a mid-summer micro-brew
fest by Nick Hartrich. Jessica will contact
Nick. Ideas for member activities include a
honey tasting, tuna canning, salmon bake,
booth at Wednesday Farmer's Market in
Fairhaven June through September with
demonstrations (Glenn
Denkler will present the idea at the Feb.
25th meeting; Mary Ellen Carter will contact
Robyn Crowder for details). Sign up sheets
will be available at the meeting for members
to volunteer to help with the four quarterly
events as well as to sponsor a Slow Food
meeting/potluck in their home. Respectfully
